5 nouveaux nés rejoignent la communauté des Gorilles

Life Triumphs at Mikeno : 5 Newborns Join the Gorilla Community

The year 2026 begins under the best auspices for conservation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. With five births recorded in less than three months, the mountain gorilla population of Virunga Park confirms its resilience. The birth of twins in the Bageni family crowns this series of biological successes.

“This strong indicator of the overall health of the groups shows that our efforts to protect the Mikeno sector are bearing fruit,” said the ICCN Branch.

This success is above all that of our follow-up agents. True sentinels of biodiversity, these dedicated men and women travel the forest every day to ensure rigorous monitoring. It is thanks to their watchful eye that ICCN can now share these new hopefuls with the nation and the international community.
