The Kivu-Kinshasa Green Corridor (KKGC)
Initiated by the vision of the Head of State, the Kivu-Kinshasa ecological corridor project forms the backbone of the DRC’s status as a “Solution Country.” Under the management and regulation of the ICCN, this project combines strict biodiversity conservation with the sustainable socio-economic development of local communities.
THE CHRONOLOGY OF AUTHORITY
December 11, 2024 | The Founding Act
Signing of Decree No. 24/22 establishing and organizing the Kivu-Kinshasa Green Corridor project. This text provides the project with a national legal framework and designates the ICCN as the key player in its technical implementation.
January 2025 (Davos)
Official presentation at the World Economic Forum. The DRC attracts investments towards sovereign “Green Finance”.
August 2025 (Belém)
DRC asserts its leadership at the Amazon summit for the safeguarding of the Congo Basin.
October 2025 (Inclusion and Civil Society)
The National Civil Society Workshop was held in Kinshasa. The ICCN validated the inclusive approach and climate resilience with all stakeholders.
March 5, 2026
Departure of the first historic convoy from Mutsora (Virunga) to Kinshasa. Transport of chocolate and local products, proving the viability of the corridor.
March 25, 2026
Presidential Order appointing Mr. Pacifique Kahasha Birindwa to the position of Special Advisor to the Head of State in charge of the Green Corridor.
April 26, 2026
The first two containers of the Kivu-Kinshasa Green Corridor (CVKK) have successfully docked in Kinshasa, marking the culmination of a logistical journey of nearly two months across the national territory.
